Ant-Man and WASP review

Director: Peyton Reed

After being introduced to the fierceness of the Black Panther and the immensity of Avengers: Infinity War, here’s an advice while watching Ant-Man and the Wasp – think small. This lightweight sequel – that is a heist comedy in its core – does not promise bigness like your recent Marvel adventures💥, but it’s still an enjoyable film with a heart.

Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) need the help of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) – who, after his shenanigans during Civil War, is under house arrest – to fight Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen). While trying not to scoot away from his fatherhood duties and security firm (aptly named X-Con), Scott must find the middle-ground to balance his responsibilities, old and new.

There’s tons of fast-paced action spattered across the film (Lilly is the bigger action hero here⚔), a pleasing cast that does its job well, and enjoyable comedy. But Ant-Man and the Wasp is not an ambitious film, especially as the follow-up film to Infinity Wars in the Marvel Comic Universe. The plot and theme are simple, as if a breather is what Marvel wanted its fans to take between its grander more muscular films. Nevertheless, you will not be disappointed when you leave the theatre.
